Why Little Yellow House?

In 2015, both of our founders found themselves in the midst of a professional transition. It was during this time that we made the decision to create our own company, drawing inspiration from the story of the Little Yellow House. This charming abode was once a saloon with a notorious brothel upstairs, owned and operated by a woman named Margaret Matilda (Tilly) Murphy. The M3 Saloon, as it was called, was eventually left to decay during the Great Depression. However, it was later restored to its former glory, with the original log cabin structure still intact. Today, it stands as a bright and shiny little yellow house, brimming with character and history.

The legend of the Little Yellow House struck a chord with us, not only because it made us giggle, but also because it embodied the spirit of resilience and reinvention. We knew that this would be the perfect inspiration for our company, and so we adopted the name as our own.

With the Little Yellow House as our guiding light, we set out to create a company that would embody the same qualities of strength, perseverance, and adaptability. We believe that our story is a testament to the power of transformation, and we are proud to carry on the legacy of the Little Yellow House in all that we do.

What Drives Us

Little Yellow House Publishing is dedicated to sharing the stories of everyday women who inspire others and have a story to tell. As we've grown, tried things on, and edited with our own journey as a company, our focus has narrowed to what we feel is a highly neglected and under-serviced writing niche - preserving family histories. Our platform provides people from all walks of life the opportunity to gather their memories and capture the stories of their past. We’ve also seen the doors in screenwriting bust wide open with the advent of streaming services. This resonates with Tiffany in particular because during the Covid 19 lockdown she decided to pursue a post graduate program in screenwriting at UCLA.

Our inspiration for starting Little Yellow House Publishing was a deep-seated desire to empower women to share their stories, whether factual or fictitious. As Kate Winslet's character Iris said in The Holiday, "For God's sake, you're supposed to be the leading lady in your own life." We believe that every person has a story worth telling, and a legacy worth documenting. We are here to provide a platform for those stories to be told, empowering our clients to be the leading characters in their own narratives.

At Little Yellow House Publishing, we are committed to providing professional and engaging services that create an end product with a lasting impact. Your story will live on long after you are gone, inspiring future generations to dive deeper into their memory banks and add to the story.

We have ghostwritten for clients on various topics, from surviving tragedy to finding one's true self and from perseverance and faith to much-needed humor. Every story leads to another until suddenly, you turn around and find you've got a book or a screenplay!
